The Waiata Shepherd's Hut
Our cute Shepherd's Hut sits on the banks of our pond. She's cosy and comfortable, with just enough room for two, in a super comfy bed with a warm quilt for those cold nights. She also has a wee woodburner, to make sure guests are always warm enough.
While she is off-grid, she has enough solar power for the basics, and battery powered lanterns create a romantic atmosphere. She also has a shower (with hot water!) and a composting toilet.
NOTE: There are no cooking facilities in the Shepherd's Hut, although you can make yourself a cuppa (tea, coffee and milk provided) and Hanmer Springs village is only a five minute drive away
You don't have to get married at Waiata to book the Shepherd's Hut for a romantic get away at any time.
Soak under the stars
For a truly relaxing stay, we have a wood-fired bath on the edge of the pond. Enjoy a soak together, looking up the myriad of stars and breathing in the freshest mountain air.
NOTE: The bath takes two hours to heat up, so plan your soak ahead of a time!
Laze on the deck
The deck is equipped with a wee table and chairs, just right for two, and a couple of comfy bean bags to laze in. There are warm blankets in the Hut to wrap yourself up in while you sit and enjoy the peace.
Snuggle up in bed
The bed has a super comfy mattress and is made up with high quality bedding to create a cosy place to snuggle up for the night. We reckon the fresh air here guarantees a great sleep - but a comfy bed always helps too!
